Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be performed as an EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- State basic IV therapy certification
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as an EMT-Paramedic
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility according to standard operating procedures
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical guidance, and donor safety and eligibility issues
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room is required
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of local pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
