Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be performed as an EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • State basic IV therapy certification
  • Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as an EMT-Paramedic
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility according to standard operating procedures
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical guidance, and donor safety and eligibility issues
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room is required
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of local pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
