Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of recognized nursing program with state requirements
  • Current license or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities are assigned
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as an EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Completion of FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical and technical guidance
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health or ER as needed
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support pandemic investigations as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
