Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of recognized nursing program with state requirements
- Current license or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities are assigned
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as an EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Completion of FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical and technical guidance
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health or ER as needed
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support pandemic investigations as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
