Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • current licensure or certification as LPN or LVN in the assigned state
  • valid CPR and AED certification
  • completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
  • fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as LPN or LVN
  • current CPR and AED certification
  • fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • evaluate donor reactions and manage donor adverse events following standard operating procedures
  • follow medical emergency protocols including developing standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care
  • refer medical and technical issues to Center Physician or Medical Affairs
  • support employee vaccination programs such as Hepatitis B and seasonal flu
  • manage employee incidents and determine need for additional evaluation
  • serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support related investigations
