Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- current licensure or certification as LPN or LVN in the assigned state
- valid CPR and AED certification
- completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
- fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as LPN or LVN
- current CPR and AED certification
- fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- evaluate donor reactions and manage donor adverse events following standard operating procedures
- follow medical emergency protocols including developing standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care
- refer medical and technical issues to Center Physician or Medical Affairs
- support employee vaccination programs such as Hepatitis B and seasonal flu
- manage employee incidents and determine need for additional evaluation
- serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support related investigations
