Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, quality, biological sciences, engineering or related field
  • Minimum 6 years experience in similar manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 6 years experience working in sanitation or related position
  • Minimum 4 years experience managing people or projects
  • Experience with automated and manual CIP systems
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to embrace personal and professional development
  • Ability to handle complex problems and bring in resources as needed
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years experience in field or similar manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 6 years experience in sanitation or related position
  • Minimum 4 years experience managing people or projects
  • Experience with automated and manual CIP systems
  • Experience in sanitation audits including equipment specifications and sanitary process design
  • Ability to make independent judgments on sanitation procedures and standards
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Effective interaction with all levels of plant staff
  • Willingness to pursue personal and professional development
  • Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well in collaborative group environments
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Beginner knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or related field
  • Preferred master’s degree in related field

Job Duties

  • Assure all sanitation staff work safely and use proper PPE
  • Direct sanitation staff to cover all sanitation requirements on every shift
  • Develop, publish, maintain, and approve plant-specific cleaning and sanitation procedures and records
  • Ensure cleaning and sanitation requirements are met throughout the plant including microbiological sampling, verification, and validation
  • Support QA department with GMP, FDA, SQF, and co-packer audits
  • Develop and track sanitation metrics including chemical cost, CIP frequencies and times, microbiological test results, and GMP plant audits
  • Work with approved chemical suppliers to track and trend sanitation metrics
  • Conduct verification and validation of cleaning and sanitation systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve food safety and quality issues
  • Ensure use of approved chemicals for cleaning and sanitation
  • Implement comprehensive sanitation training programs covering CIP, COP, chemical safety, and sanitary maintenance oversight
  • Provide environmental oversight of sanitation processes and communicate wastewater/discharge issues to Plant Engineer
  • Maximize use of document control and CIP monitoring software for sanitation documentation and record keeping
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
