Job Requirements
- Minimum age 21
- degree in culinary arts, nutrition, home economics preferred
- 2+ years of experience related to food and cooking or sales
- experience conducting product demonstrations or cooking professionally
- completion or ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification
- completion or ability to complete TABC certification
- comprehensive product knowledge
- advanced communication and customer service skills
- merchandising skills
- skills in basic cooking techniques
- ability to read and interpret documents
- ability to manage multiple priorities
- willingness to work flexible hours
- physical ability to perform tasks including standing, reaching, bending, lifting up to 60 lbs
- ability to handle exposure to varying temperatures and conditions
Job Qualifications
- Degree in culinary arts, nutrition, or home economics preferred
- minimum 2 years of related food and cooking experience
- experience in sales, product demonstrations, or professional cooking environment
- ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification or similar
- ability to complete TABC certification
- comprehensive knowledge of food products and uses
- advanced communication skills
- strong customer service and hospitality skills
- merchandising skills
- proficiency in basic cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying
- ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
- ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
- willingness to work flexible hours
Job Duties
- Perform selling activation events in the Cooking Connection kitchen
- assist in development of localized recipes using key focus items
- engage customers by creating a hub of food experiences through ingredient knowledge, beverage recommendations, and cooking techniques
- conduct cooking method and recipe preparation demonstrations
- participate in total Store events and thematic merchandising
- welcome and approach customers with a hospitality mindset
- offer advice for menu and meal planning
- serve as an expert on daily recipes and answer culinary questions
- suggest alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage pairings
- develop and maintain customer relationships by recalling dietary needs and preferences
- contribute culinary and customer insights to in-store cooking events
- assist in cooking classes, wine education, and dinner series execution
- ensure A+ standards for kitchen maintenance, stocking, and displays
- comply with food safety regulations and maintain sanitation
- operate under 5-S guidelines
- prep products using mise-en-place method
- manage perpetual inventory and backstock
- may support food production for retail sale
