Job Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Must have strong knowledge of safety and sanitation in food service operations
- Food service industry experience is desirable
- Must complete required sanitation and safety classes within two years
- Must be able to work under pressure and stand frequently
- Must tolerate bending, squatting, reaching and lifting (five to forty pounds) with or without ADA accommodation
- Must have sufficient mobility for production and service tasks
- Must display reliable attendance and punctuality
- Must maintain high standards of personal hygiene
- Must have ability to interact positively with students and staff
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent from accredited establishment
- Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation in food service operations
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to interact positively with students, co-workers, teachers, and administrators
- Previous food service or food preparation experience preferred
- Completion of sanitation and safety classes through Michigan School Food Service Association and Michigan Department of Education within two years
Job Duties
- Implement standardized menu by preparing and cooking entree components in proper portion size and quantity
- Ensure all sanitation and safety practices comply with state, county, and district requirements and codes
- Assist with planning production schedules and thaw lists
- Ensure compliance with USDA, Michigan Department of Education, and district rules and regulations
- Communicate with Food Service Manager regarding production kitchen staff policies and procedures
- Promote student and staff satisfaction by preparing and merchandising meals attractively
- Prepare other meal components and ala carte items during lunch period
- Expand and follow standardized recipes
- Operate a variety of commercial food service equipment
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and documentation of cooking, holding and cooling temperatures
- Adhere to prescribed safety procedures including checking for hazards and reporting them
- Perform other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager or Director of Food Services
