Job Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- Residency in U.S. or protectorates for at least three of the last five years
- Maximum age of 40 for original appointment, with age waivers available
- FAA class 2 medical certificate (or equivalent military medical clearance) dated within the last 12 months
- Minimum 1500 total flight hours with waivers possible
- Minimum 250 pilot-in-command hours, 75 instrument hours, and 75 night hours
- Ability to complete training requirement
- Willingness to travel as required
- Specialized professional aviation experience
- Meeting Public Laws and DHS directives for law enforcement officers
- Ability to submit proof of veterans' preference if applicable
Job Qualifications
- FAA commercial or ATP pilot certification with required ratings or equivalent military pilot rating
- One year of specialized professional aviation experience including Pilot-in-Command duties in diverse flight environments
- Experience evaluating information rapidly and making flight decisions
- Experience developing strategies and coordinating air and ground assets
- Experience using information systems and databases
- Ability to successfully complete required training
- U.S. citizenship
- Residency of at least three of the last five years in the U.S. or protectorates
Job Duties
- Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels
- Monitoring behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels believed to be engaged in illegal activities
- Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence
- Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts
- Evaluating information rapidly and making judicious decisions promptly during in-flight operations
- Developing strategies and coordinating aircraft and ground assets
- Using information systems and databases to conduct information surveys, queries, update files and disseminate information
