Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with appropriate instrument ratings
- Minimum 1500 total flight hours (waivers up to 500 hours possible)
- Minimum 250 pilot-in-command hours
- Minimum 75 instrument flight hours
- Minimum 75 night flight hours
- 100 flight hours in the last 12 months
- FAA Class 2 medical certificate within last 12 months or equivalent
- U.S. citizenship
- Primary U.S. residency for at least 3 of last 5 years
- Maximum age of 40 at appointment (waivers available under certain circumstances)
- Ability to complete CBP law enforcement training
- Willingness to travel as required
- Ability to work at any assigned duty location within selected region
Job Qualifications
- Current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with appropriate ratings
- One year of specialized professional aviation experience
- Experience flying as Pilot-in-Command in diverse and challenging flight environments
- Ability to evaluate information rapidly and make prompt decisions
- Experience coordinating multi-asset aviation and ground operations
- Proficient with information systems and databases
- U.S. citizen
- Ability to complete required training
- Eligible for federal employment with necessary medical clearance
- Military flight experience recognized as equivalent where applicable
- Experience meeting required flight hour minimums including pilot-in-command, instrument, and night hours
Job Duties
- Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels
- Monitoring behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels believed to be engaged in illegal activities
- Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence
- Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts
- Coordinating aircraft and ground assets during operations
- Performing in-flight operations as pilot-in-command in challenging environments
- Maintaining operational readiness through training and compliance with policies
