Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • regular scheduled attendance
  • comply with drug and alcohol testing per DOT/FAA requirements
  • ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
  • meet visual flight rules program flight hour minimums
  • meet instrument flight rules program flight hour minimums

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • commercial and instrument ratings for category and class of aircraft
  • airline transport pilot (ATP) rating in category
  • current first or second class FAA medical certificate
  • recent flight experience in category within previous 24 months
  • thorough interpersonal skills for professional relationships
  • extensive flight experience including night, cross-country, and instrument hours

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • perform walk-around inspections prior to and after flights
  • assume final authority for aircraft operation and passenger safety
  • maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft and medical systems
  • ensure medical flight team familiarity with medical interior
  • complete required flight documentation
  • conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participate in meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • perform other assigned duties
