Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Pass motor vehicle report and background check
- Pass company drug testing
- Obtain and maintain Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator and Defensive Driving certifications
- Availability for overnight travel 2-3 nights per week
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs and conducting vehicle inspections
- Willingness to operate a motor vehicle in all 48 states
- Proficient in English reading and communication
Job Qualifications
- Valid driver's license, may require additional endorsements
- Motor vehicle report and background check meeting company criteria
- Ability to obtain and maintain Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator and Defensive Driving certifications
- Proficient in reading and speaking English
- Ability to understand bills of lading and permits
- Willingness to travel overnight 2-3 nights per week
- Physical ability to perform inspections and lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience working in a team environment
Job Duties
- Assist in the preparation of the home for shipment, including installing lights, checking tires, and securing coverings
- Pilot and escort oversized loads along required routes
- Communicate hazards, traffic patterns, and cargo issues to the Toter driver via CB radio
- Maintain communication with Retailers and terminal managers
- Perform pre-trip inspections and assist with minor repairs
- Ensure compliance with state-specific Pilot/Escort requirements
- Represent Clayton professionally at all times
