Job Requirements

  • minimum 2,000 total flight hours
  • at least 1,500 helicopter flight hours
  • minimum 1,000 PIC helicopter flight hours
  • 200 night flight hours including 100 unaided
  • 100 instrument hours
  • 500 turbine hours
  • possession of commercial rotorcraft-helicopter certificate with instrument rating
  • current second-class medical license
  • valid state driver’s license
  • compliance with FAA drug and alcohol policies
  • physical fitness for duty including adherence to health requirements
  • ability to work rotating 7 day on/7 day off schedule
  • willingness to participate in training and safety programs
  • adherence to confidentiality policies
  • excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • 2,000 total flight hours
  • 1,500 total helicopter flight hours
  • 1,000 total PIC helicopter flight hours
  • 200 night flight hours with at least 100 unaided
  • 100 instrument hours
  • 500 turbine hours
  • commercial rotorcraft-helicopter certificate with instrument rating
  • current second-class medical license
  • valid and current state driver’s license
  • experience in helicopter EMS transport preferred
  • four-year degree with aviation applications preferred
  • airline transport pilot or commercial pilot license
  • Act 34 clearance

Job Duties

  • Reports for work well rested and fit for duty
  • adheres to drug and alcohol policies including FAA requirements
  • reports for duty in time to perform all required pre-flight duties
  • coordinates with flight followers regarding currency, duty time, aircraft, and weather status
  • responds promptly and efficiently to service requests prioritizing flight safety
  • supports service continuity through scheduling flexibility and assists with coverage
  • participates in promoting a safety culture, ensures safety of patients and personnel
  • reports safety concerns and uses tools to maintain a safe work environment
  • completes official documentation including payroll and expense reports accurately and timely
  • completes all post-flight paperwork including incident reports
  • possesses thorough knowledge of policies and procedures
  • manages PTO and shift coverage
  • selects appropriate personal protective equipment
  • performs assigned duties including periodic responsibilities assigned by Base Site Manager-Aviation
  • maintains physical fitness and health compliance
  • reports and documents all injuries promptly
  • conducts flights ensuring safe completion and regulatory compliance
  • transmits flight manifest information
  • obtains appropriate flight releases
  • adheres to all policies, conducts operations without regulatory violations
  • maintains competency with flight and navigation equipment
  • completes checkrides and recurrent training promptly
  • performs monthly practice instrument approaches weather permitting
  • conducts shift change briefs with medical crew
  • maintains currency of aircrew training
  • participates in crew post-flight debriefings
  • maintains flight kits and documentation
  • ensures navigation publications and pilot qualifications are current
  • ensures assigned aircraft is airworthy
  • documents maintenance events timely
  • performs thorough preflight/postflight inspections
  • ensures operational readiness with fuel and oxygen
  • maintains aircraft cleanliness
  • utilizes covers and hangars as needed
  • serves as mentor and professional development resource for new pilots
  • assists with initial operational experience process
  • protects patient privacy in compliance with policies and laws
  • demonstrates positive customer interaction in high stress conditions
  • adheres to uniform and appearance standards
  • establishes and sustains positive customer relationships including at public relations events
