Job Requirements
- High school graduate
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and laboratory safety protocols
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills for data entry and result reporting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Phlebotomy experience or completion of a certified phlebotomy training program preferred
Job Duties
- Promote the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital
- Maintain patient confidentiality and excellent customer service skills
- Exercise appropriate independent judgment and initiative
- Acquire and update knowledge pertinent to policies, specimen collection, procedures and result reporting
- Perform pre-analytical processing of lab orders and specimens
- Perform post-analytical processing of lab results including phone requests, faxes and charting
- Follow procedures for ordering lab tests into the information system
- Perform lab billing and charging procedures for lab services
- Practice good phlebotomy skills using appropriate collection devices
- Handle all specimens following standard precautions
- Demonstrate willingness to adjust schedule to meet department needs
