Job Requirements
- High school diploma, high school equivalency or completion of a CHS approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) certificate
- Current CPT or CPTII certification in the state of California
- Experience performing venipuncture and skin puncture
- Ability to accurately collect and label specimens according to regulations
- Proficiency in data entry and computer use
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to train and support new phlebotomy staff
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, high school equivalency or completion of a CHS approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) certificate
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) state of California certification or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII) state of California certification
- Experience with venipuncture and skin puncture collection techniques
- Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control protocols
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to train and mentor new staff
Job Duties
- Identify patients appropriately and collect blood specimens via venipuncture and/or skin puncture
- Follow applicable regulations, policies and procedures for specimen collection and labeling
- Utilize appropriate techniques to maintain specimen integrity and minimize rejections
- Perform accurate and timely data entry of test requests and patient information
- Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment according to regulatory standards
- Handle specimens following infection control policies and procedures
- Provide clerical support including answering phones, processing mail, filing, reporting test results, and resolving lab order issues
- Serve as a resource to patient care staff and assist in clarifying test requests
- Train and orient new phlebotomy employees and students to ensure a productive staff
