Job Requirements
- Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy
- Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB or NHA within nine months of job entry
- Ability to operate cash registers and pharmacy software
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced retail environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications and data
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience as a pharmacy technician or in a related retail pharmacy role preferred
- Knowledge of prescription fulfillment process and pharmacy operations
- Familiarity with third-party insurance claims processing
- Certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists and other team members
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware
- Maintain merchandise presentation by stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged or expired goods, setting up, cleaning, and organizing product displays
- Manage pharmacy area according to company policies by handling claims, returns, pricing merchandise, creating signs, verifying inventory, and maintaining paperwork
- Monitor and resolve prescription fulfillment issues by processing insurance claims, rescanning images, alerting patients to stock issues, and identifying pharmacist interventions
- Promote and provide pharmacy products and services in compliance with laws and policies by assisting pharmacists, processing claims and rejections, and maintaining documentation
- Deliver patient service by acknowledging members, initiating prescription orders, promoting products, resolving issues, and maintaining a safe shopping environment
- Enter prescription data accurately into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions, transcribing data, and updating patient records
- Fill prescriptions by counting, measuring, mixing medications, labeling containers, and using automated dispensing systems
- Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying information, marking prescriptions, scanning security, and obtaining required signatures
- Complete work assignments using policies and collaboration, communicate progress, identify improvements, and adapt to change
- Comply with company policies and ethical standards by implementing action plans and using the Open Door Policy
