Job Requirements
- Meets all state requirements to work as a pharmacy technician, including age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy
- Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential patient information
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and regulations
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to collaborate with pharmacists and other team members

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware and using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold
- Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies received from distribution centers and suppliers, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, setting up cleaning and organizing product displays, signing and pricing merchandise, and securing fragile and high shrink merchandise
- Maintain the pharmacy area in accordance with company policies and procedures including handling claims and returns, pricing merchandise, verifying merchandise on hand, arranging and organizing merchandise and supplies, identifying shrink and damages, ensuring a safe work environment, and completing required paperwork and documentation
- Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process by processing information for third-party insurance claims, rescanning illegible images, alerting patients to inventory issues, handling partial fills and physician authorizations, and identifying situations requiring pharmacist action
- Promote and maintain the pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting in prescription fulfillment, processing third-party insurance claims and rejections, assisting patients with prescription orders and purchases, and maintaining required documentation
- Provide patient member service by acknowledging members, identifying needs, initiating prescription orders, promoting products and services, resolving member issues, assisting with purchases, locating over-the-counter merchandise, and maintaining a safe shopping environment
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading and translating prescriptions, transcribing appropriate data, and creating or modifying patient records
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting or measuring medication, mixing or reconstituting as needed, selecting filling and labeling prescription containers, and operating scanning or automated dispensing equipment
- Provide assistance during prescription pickup by verifying and entering patient information, marking prescriptions for pickup, retrieving prescription bags, scanning security tags, gathering necessary signatures, and logging sales of restricted items
- Complete work assignments by using policies, data, and resources, collaborating with managers and coworkers, identifying priorities and deadlines, communicating progress, and recommending improvements
- Comply with company policies, ethics, and integrity standards by implementing related action plans and fostering a positive workplace culture focused on respect, integrity, customer service, and striving for excellence
