Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year experience as a pharmacy technician
  • state certified pharmacy technician with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy

Job Duties

  • Perform all technician functions specific to assigned pharmacy space
  • conduct hazardous compounding during scheduled shifts
  • interpret and prepare medication orders including controlled substances in compliance with regulations
  • utilize pharmacy technologies for dispensing and inventory management
  • provide shift or site leadership at designated sites
  • deliver excellent customer service including timely phone and window service
  • train and mentor new pharmacy personnel
  • create and maintain patient medication profiles in multiple software systems
  • conduct benefits investigations for specialty prescriptions
  • assist pharmacists with prior authorizations and appeals
  • clarify medication orders with pharmacists or providers
  • coordinate specialty medication fills and refills
  • educate patients and caregivers on specialty pharmacy services
  • facilitate medication delivery including home delivery and intercampus courier
  • document patient progress in electronic medical records and software platforms
  • follow up with providers and patients to ensure medication receipt
  • order and maintain medication inventory
  • comply with medication concierge program workflow
  • develop programs to assess medication barriers prior to discharge
  • refine discharge medication assessment opportunities
  • assist with auditing and compliance of the 340B program
  • act as liaison between 340B leadership and site teams
  • participate in site visits for new 340B sites as required
  • support informatics and automation roles including billing and charging support
  • educate and train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • communicate with diverse pharmacy stakeholders
  • participate in quality assurance and performance improvement projects
  • adhere to sterile and non-sterile compounding regulations and documentation
  • perform other assigned duties
