Job Requirements
- No experience required
- Six months of experience as a package handler with FedEx Ground preferred
- Ability to train multiple peer package handlers simultaneously
- Ability to understand and follow work duties and safety instructions
- Ability to discern numbers and information for correct package sorting
- Ability to use basic tools and equipment including skate wheel rollers, dock carts, scanners, chutes, and unloading devices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to work in noisy environments
- Travel not required
- Valid driver’s license and Department of Transportation file required for switching equipment operators

Job Duties
- Trains new package handlers in effective unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, swak, and non-conveyable package handling techniques
- Provides training to other package handlers who need additional instruction on unloading, carrying, loading, palletizing, smalls handling, swak, or non-conveyable package handling techniques as determined by management
- Provides feedback on proper package handling techniques
- Reinforces all dock safety standards among peer package handlers
- Understands and demonstrates all necessary processes and procedures by example
- Updates managers on conditions during the sort to assist in operational efficiency decisions
- Assists in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques
- Regularly loads, unloads, palletizes, lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls packages while training others
- Utilizes hand-to-surface methods for package handling
- Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, and load gratings
- Lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls packages repetitively for 3-5 hours per shift with potential for multiple shifts
- Determines appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels, verifying numbers, and sorting packages accordingly
- Performs other duties as assigned
