Job Requirements
- No experience required
- Six months of experience as a PH with FedEx Ground preferred
- Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously
- Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods
- Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly
- Ability to use basic tools and equipment like skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds
- PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file
- Will need to work in hot and cold temperatures
- Will need to work in an environment with loud noise
- Travel should not be required

Job Duties
- Trains new PHs in effective unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques
- Provides training to other PHs who need additional instruction on unloading, carrying, loading, palletizing, smalls handling, SWAK, or non-conveyable package handling techniques
- Provides feedback on proper package handling techniques as needed
- Reinforces among peer PHs all dock safety standards
- Understands and demonstrates all necessary processes and procedures by example
- Updates managers on conditions during the sort for operational efficiency decisions
- Assists in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques
- Regularly loads/unloads, palletizes, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages while training others
- Utilizes hand-to-surface methods for all package handling
- Loads and unloads packages on delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, and load gratings
- Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages continuously for 3-5 hours per shift with potential to work multiple shifts
- Determines appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and sorting accordingly
- Performs other duties as assigned
