Job Requirements
- No minimum education required
- No experience required, six months of experience as a package handler with FedEx Ground preferred
- Ability to train multiple peer package handlers simultaneously
- Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods
- Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly
- Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and Department of Transportation file for those operating switching equipment
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to work in a loud noise environment
- Ability to lift and carry between 10 and 50 pounds
- No travel required

- If operating switching equipment, must have valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation file
Job Duties
- Train new package handlers in unloading, loading, palletizing, carrying, smalls handling, SWAK, and non-conveyable package handling techniques
- Provide additional instruction to package handlers needing improvement
- Provide feedback on proper package handling techniques
- Reinforce dock safety standards among peer package handlers
- Demonstrate all necessary processes and procedures by example
- Update managers on conditions during the sort to aid efficiency decisions
- Assist in implementing new package handling procedures and techniques
- Perform regular loading, unloading, palletizing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of packages while training others
- Utilize hand-to-surface methods for package handling
- Load and unload packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts, and load gratings
- Lift, carry, push, and pull packages continuously for 3-5 hours per shift
- Determine conveyor system placement by scanning packages, reading labels, and verifying information
- Perform other duties as assigned
