Job Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Pass employment physical to confirm ability to wear a respirator within 1 year from hire date
  • Residency in one of the specified counties in the western district
  • Some college education or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in field conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, entomology, pest management, horticulture, plant pathology or a closely related biological science from an appropriately accredited institution
  • Experience in pesticide use in agricultural production, landscaping, or other related areas
  • Ability to convey and interpret policies, laws, and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to compose clear and concise reports
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office

Job Duties

  • Conduct inspections at pesticide dealers
  • Perform alleged misuse investigations
  • Respond to pesticide-related emergencies
  • Administer pesticide license examinations
  • Conduct marketplace inspections on misbranded products
  • Sample pesticide formulations
  • Conduct outreach to regulated public
  • Inspect pesticide application equipment
