Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree with 4 years' experience or high school diploma with 6 years' experience
  • 5+ years of financial counseling experience
  • U.S. citizenship
  • fluent English speaker
  • bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
  • ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • ability to pass Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest process
  • possession of AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification
  • valid state driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of financial counseling experience
  • certification as Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • fluency in English
  • ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • compliance with Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency with virtual counseling technologies

Job Duties

  • Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of personal financial management classes and workshops
  • responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication approved by the customer
  • manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • communicates with leadership and participates in regular supervision sessions
  • participates in in-services, training, and quality improvement activities
  • performs all other duties as assigned
