Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • May consider associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years financial counseling experience
  • Must be U.S. citizen
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
  • Ability to obtain favorable Tier 2 investigation
  • Must pass organizational conflicts of interest process
  • Must hold AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification
  • Valid driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of financial counseling experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with military financial culture and lifecycle events
  • Ability to conduct workshops and develop educational materials
  • Proficiency in virtual counseling technologies
  • Able to obtain adjudicated Tier 2 investigation clearance
  • Valid driver license

Job Duties

  • Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops, e.g., topics across the military lifecycle including arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events
  • Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications
  • Manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • Communicates with leadership and participates in regular supervision sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations
  • Participates in regular in-services, training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
