Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • May consider associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years financial counseling experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must pass organizational conflict of interest disclosures
  • Certification as AFC, CFP, or ChFC required
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred if required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years financial counseling experience
  • U.S. citizenship and fluent English speaking ability
  • Certification as Accredited Financial Counselor, Certified Financial Planner, or Chartered Financial Consultant
  • Ability to utilize virtual counseling tools and electronic communication
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information and adhere to DoD protocols

Job Duties

  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinate, publicize and provide a wide variety of personal financial management classes and workshops
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes effectively
  • Manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
