Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • May consider associate degree plus 4 years' experience or high school diploma plus 6 years' experience
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest process
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: AFC, CFP, or ChFC
  • Bilingual English-Spanish may be required by contract

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification required
  • Ability to speak fluent English
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in utilizing virtual counseling tools and electronic communications
  • Ability to work effectively with military personnel and leadership

Job Duties

  • Provide personal financial counseling directly to service members and their families
  • Assist military personnel in establishing spending plans for extended absences
  • Develop informational financial materials for distribution to service members and families
  • Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate financial classes or seminars
  • Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication platforms as authorized
  • Manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision and quality improvement activities
  • Participate in ongoing training and contract activities
  • Perform all other duties as assigned aligned with the job intent
