Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, may consider associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- U.S. citizenship required
- Fluent English speaking ability
- Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
- Must hold one of the following certifications: AFC, CFP, or ChFC
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification
- Minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
- Experience with military financial issues preferred
- Proficiency in virtual counseling platforms and secure communication tools
Job Duties
- Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
- Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
- Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
- Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of personal financial management classes and workshops
- Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
- Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication effectively
- Manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
