Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, may consider associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Fluent English speaking ability
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: AFC, CFP, or ChFC

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Experience with military financial issues preferred
  • Proficiency in virtual counseling platforms and secure communication tools

Job Duties

  • Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of personal financial management classes and workshops
  • Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication effectively
  • Manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
