Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience
  • 3 or more years of financial counseling experience
  • Must be U.S. citizen and speak fluent English
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish if required
  • Must obtain favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must pass Congressional Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process
  • Must hold AFC, CFP or ChFC certification

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 3 or more years of financial counseling experience
  • Certification as Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with military service members and leadership
  • Proficiency in virtual communication technologies
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Fluent in English

Job Duties

  • Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families
  • Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops
  • Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Possess skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes
  • Manages duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
  • Communicates with leadership and participates in regular supervision sessions
  • Participates in in-services/training and quality improvement committees
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
