Job Qualifications

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • 1 year food and beverage serving or related experience at a luxury hotel or restaurant
  • Above average knowledge of wines, spirits and mixed drinks
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests, managers and employees
  • Have thorough knowledge of menus and current specials
  • Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of Micros and manual systems
  • Complete opening side duties as assigned
  • Check quality and amount of all In-Room Dining stock and supplies using checklist
  • Fold and stack In-Room Dining napkins
  • Requisition necessary supplies and restock using first in/first out rotation
  • Set tables and trays according to service standards
  • Set up condiments and beverages according to service standards
  • Ensure sufficient supply of silverware, glassware, and chinaware
  • Check cleanliness and condition of In-Room Dining equipment and rectify deficiencies
  • Ensure flowers and decorative items are fresh
  • Retrieve and place food and beverage orders on trays according to standards
  • Transport trays to guest rooms maintaining presentation and avoiding spillage
  • Enter guest rooms and place trays following procedures
  • Serve food and beverages according to standards
  • Open and serve wine/champagne bottles
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly
  • Maintain positive guest relations
  • Be familiar with hotel services and local attractions
  • Handle guest complaints ensuring satisfaction
  • Present check for signature/payment and follow finance procedures
  • Deliver paid amenities to rooms
  • Retrieve tables and trolleys timely
  • Ensure removal of food and beverage items from floors
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of service areas
  • Transport tables/trays as assigned
  • Clean and reset tables/trays
  • Collect and report tips
  • Complete closing side duties including cleaning, restocking, and documentation
  • Successfully complete required training and certifications
  • Document orders during system outages
  • Follow maintenance and cleaning schedules
  • Care for floral/centerpieces
  • Detail silver trays and glassware
  • Expedite on floor or kitchen
  • Maintain logs and check perishables
  • Fold linens
  • Report maintenance needs
  • Perform cashier duties
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures
  • Cover mini bar shifts as needed
  • Ensure tables and stands are stocked and clean
  • Upsell food, beverage and promotional items
  • Be knowledgeable about fire extinguishers
  • Receive and deliver orders and collect payments
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
