Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • one or more years of personal care experience with older adults preferred
  • must complete and pass competency evaluation within 120 days of employment
  • must complete state-required training
  • current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Food Handlers permit if required by state
  • ability to perform essential job duties
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • strong commitment to resident dignity and respect

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • one or more years of personal care experience with older adults preferred
  • must complete and pass competency evaluation within 120 days of employment
  • must complete state-required training including Revised Fundamentals of Care, Dementia Care, First Aid, CPR, and HIV training if prior training documentation is not provided
  • must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily
  • current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Food Handlers permit if required by state
  • ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • provides direct resident care while promoting dignity and independence
  • observes and reports changes in residents' physical and mental conditions
  • assists with activities of daily living
  • takes vital signs and weights
  • documents care services and observations
  • reports and documents incidents and accidents immediately
  • assists residents to dining and activities
  • performs first aid and initiates emergency response procedures
  • greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously
  • answers phones when assigned
  • follows community fire safety and infection control practices
  • reports unsafe conditions or equipment
  • serves meals and assists with dining room and kitchen maintenance
  • assists with tours, move-ins, move-outs, and transfers
  • coordinates personal care services with co-workers
  • assists with apartment housekeeping services and residents' laundry
  • attends training, in-services, and staff meetings
  • performs other related duties as assigned
