Job Requirements

  • no formal educational qualifications required
  • must meet physical demands including continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • capable of handling heavy powered cleaning equipment weighing over 50 pounds
  • able to work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying weather
  • must use personal protective equipment as needed
  • must be reliable and dependable
  • demonstrate dexterity and safety awareness

Job Duties

  • perform janitorial and custodial services at the VA Medical Center
  • use heavy powered cleaning equipment including wall washers and buffers
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in clinical and non-clinical areas
  • follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment when required
  • handle weights and loads safely
  • ensure visual inspection for dirt, dust, and debris
  • coordinate with Perioperative Nurse Manager or designee
