Job Duties
- Performs support duties
- Empties full soiled linen bags, replaces with clean bags, and prepares full bag for pick up or disposes down linen chute
- Makes unoccupied beds and assists with making occupied beds
- Stocks supplies such as water pitchers and clean patient linen in patient rooms
- Stocks floors with bathroom supplies and cleaning chemicals as per established par levels
- Cleans and disinfects occupied patient rooms, isolation rooms, offices, exam rooms, restrooms, lounges, utility rooms, halls, stairways, elevators, floors, furniture, windows, doors, and hospital equipment according to established procedures
- Identifies and completes discharge cleaning and bed making of patient rooms, including emergency discharge cleaning
- Operates cleaning equipment such as buffers, burnishers, automatic scrubbers, mops, vacuums, wall washing equipment, and carpet extractors
- Removes trash, hazardous materials, and medical waste, disinfects waste receptacles, and manages waste disposal according to established procedures
- Participates in disaster response and patient decontamination as assigned
- Detects and reports defective materials, equipment, and unsafe conditions
- Adheres to safety rules including proper handling of hazardous waste and use of PPE
- Transports patients throughout the hospital for admission, discharge, testing, and transfers
- Assists with lifting, moving, positioning, and ambulation of patients
- Transports medical records and equipment as needed
- Sets up and breaks down furniture and equipment for meetings
- Completes reports on tasks accomplished such as moving equipment
- Maintains proper attendance and punctuality
- Attends mandatory in-service education and maintains competency standards annually
- Participates in annual GSA update training and hazardous material training and passes associated tests
