Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
- Ability to handle pressures related to participant concerns and emotional needs
- Ability to participate in recreational activities and relate to participants with dementia or developmental disabilities
- Valid driver's license and insurance
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, HIPAA, and PACE specific regulations
- Ability to follow safety protocols and use Standard Precautions
- Ability to work Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reporting
- Physical ability to perform transfers and assistive care tasks
Job Qualifications
- Current State of Michigan Certified Nurse Aide certificate preferred but not required
- Minimum of one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and in a team setting
- Self-motivated and organized
- Valid driver's license and insurance required, Michigan preferred
- Experience or training in housekeeping, health practices, observation, reporting, record keeping, food preparation, and safe food handling procedures preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, HIPAA, and PACE specific regulations required
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and follow written and oral instructions
- Working knowledge of Standard Precautions
- Computer skills necessary to utilize software effectively
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and good organizational skills
- Willingness to accept additional responsibility
- Ability to work effectively with all members of the Interdisciplinary Team
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
Job Duties
- Provide personal care services including toileting, bathing/showering, eating assistance, grooming, and stand-by assist with ambulation
- Perform two-person assist transfers, turning, positioning, and transferring participants using mechanical lifts and ensuring safety precautions
- Transport and escort participants to/from the bus, center, activities, and appointments
- Assist with feeding, showering/bathing, and obtaining vital signs and weights
- Report any unusual signs and maintain communication with other disciplines regarding participant conditions
- Perform meal service and clean-up, maintain order in personal care areas, and assist during recreational activities
- Respond to personal alarm devices and monitor restraint checks
