Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional certification
  • Ability to practice effective communication in a demanding environment
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts including every other weekend
  • Ability to safely operate patient lift and mobilization equipment
  • Must comply with union membership requirements within 31 days of hire
  • No on-call requirement
  • Able to recognize and act in life-threatening situations
  • Ability to follow patient transport protocols and maintain safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional certification
  • One year hospital experience or similar experience preferred
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics for safe patient transfer
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Effective communication skills
  • Positive interpersonal skills and team collaboration abilities

Job Duties

  • Assist with mobilizing patients using lift equipment and mobilization aids
  • Transport patients safely throughout the facility
  • Use the transport tracking system to transport equipment, supplies, and specimens
  • Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare staff
  • Comply with all mobility and safety requirements during patient transfer
  • Maintain patient identification protocols during transport
  • Log patient movements accurately including sign-in and sign-out at morgue
