Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6-12 months of customer service or hospital experience
  • Ability to effectively speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to lift without limitations
  • Willingness to participate in training provided by the department
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with healthcare staff
  • Reliable and punctual with adherence to attendance guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • 6-12 months of customer service or hospital experience
  • Ability to effectively speak, read, and write English
  • Ability to lift without limitations
  • Training provided with experienced transport preceptors

Job Duties

  • Provide safe transport of patients and miscellaneous items within the hospital
  • Prepare daily walk-sheets of all assigned activity
  • Transport patients in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Prepare equipment by disinfecting and covering stretchers or wheelchairs
  • Assist nursing staff with moving patients using good body mechanics
  • Obtain and transport paperwork or charts as required
  • Observe proper procedures during patient transport and monitor oxygen and intravenous apparatus
  • Identify the correct patient for transport by verifying identification bands and personal information
  • Use personal protective equipment as necessary and adhere to precautionary protocols
  • Communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, and other departments
  • Report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff
  • Transport specimens and miscellaneous patient care items as needed
  • Maintain and clean transport equipment and report defects
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fire safety, smoking, and infection control policies
  • Practice good hygiene and hand-washing techniques
  • Maintain professional conduct and patient confidentiality
  • Deliver patients' belongings to and from security
  • Keep hallways clear by proper equipment storage
  • Respond to emergency codes and unexpected events
  • Participate in training sessions and adhere to attendance guidelines
  • Assist with conference room setups
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
