Job Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
  • Secondary school level education
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform essential duties
  • Knowledge of patient identification methods
  • Entry-level experience
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Two to four weeks of on the job training required

Job Duties

  • Transports patients and materials within the hospital and to and from outside facilities
  • Transports patients via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from clinical and ancillary areas
  • Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs, or stretchers
  • Supports department areas as directed by the dispatcher
  • Collects and signs off specimens, cultures, orders, and requisitions and delivers items to appropriate destinations
  • Delivers audiovisual equipment
  • Maintains established department policies and procedures related to quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Cleans and stores equipment upon job completion
  • Performs other related duties as required
