Job Requirements
- must be able to rotate shifts providing 24-hour day, seven days per week coverage
- ability to walk approximately seven miles per day
- basic education or equivalent experience
- ability to handle medications during transport under strict guidelines
- adherence to hospital policies and procedures
- ability to maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate service excellence behaviors
Job Qualifications
- CPR certification within 30 days of hire
- basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification
- knowledge of lab terminology and CRT terminals helpful
- ability to accurately identify anatomical landmarks for electrode placement
- ability to follow departmental procedures
- basic knowledge of electrocardiographic management system operation and maintenance
- effective organizational skills
- good judgment in prioritizing work
- ability to interact professionally with patients and staff
Job Duties
- Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors
- perform other duties as assigned
- acquire electrocardiograms compatible with the electrocardiographic management system
- recognize and resolve computer error messages related to electrocardiographic carts
- adjust equipment and controls per physician's orders
- attach electrodes to patients and operate EKG machines
- deliver supplies, equipment, medication, and materials to patient units safely and timely
- interact with electrocardiographic management, Clinicpac, and Medipac systems to manage patient charges and retrieve EKGs
- maintain patient physical and emotional relaxation during EKG recordings
- demonstrate courteous, tactful, and professional conduct with patients and staff
- prioritize scheduling of STAT electrocardiograms
- safely transfer patients in and out of hospital beds
- transport patients, equipment, supplies, specimens, and morgue patients between units and designated areas
