Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification through American Heart Association or within 90 days of employment
- Ability to verify patient identity using two identifiers
- Knowledge of infection control precautions
- Ability to safely operate and maintain transport equipment
- Good communication skills
- Availability to work scheduled shifts including rotating weekends
- Ability to report patient conditions accurately
- Commitment to adhere to organizational ethics and compliance policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS through American Heart Association or within 90 days of employment
- At least 1 year experience with patient transport handling preferred
Job Duties
- Specifically responsible for transporting patients as assigned
- Responsible for verifying patient identity using two patient identifiers
- Provide and adjust transport equipment for safety and comfort of the patient i.e., appropriate line, side rails
- Required to disinfect/wipe down equipment with approved cleaning product between patient transports
- Assist patients onto transport equipment, request patient care assistance if additional help needed
- Show ownership over transport equipment including routine cleaning, linen dressing, and reporting maintenance needs
- Notify nursing or ancillary personnel upon arrival or departure of patients
- Attend to care of documents relating to the patient e.g., ticket to ride
- Report immediately any unusual symptoms of patients i.e., fainting, shortness of breath during transport
- Provide, move, and care for transport equipment for patient movement
- Utilize appropriate infection control precautions including hand hygiene, proper PPE, and isolation precautions
- Safely transport patient oxygen after clinician setup
- Provide feedback to management regarding equipment conditions and availability
- Perform other duties as assigned
