Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of three months on-the-job training
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge and demonstration of safe lifting and transport techniques
- Understanding and practice of universal precautions
- Strong communication skills demonstrating courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism
- Ability to follow directions and comply with HIPAA confidentiality
- Ability to recognize patient stress and seek help immediately
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of three months on-the-job training
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire
- Demonstrated communication skills with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to understand and follow directions and comply with HIPAA
- Knowledge and practice of universal precautions
- Ability to recognize patient distress and seek assistance
- Experience in acute hospital patient transportation preferred
Job Duties
- Transports patients by assisting in and out of cars, lifting on and off beds, and moving using wheelchairs, gurneys, or beds
- Prepares patient for transport and performs active and passive identification
- Transports patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including intensive care units
- Communicates with medical staff to ensure transport of supplies and medications, including oxygen administration
- Assists in toileting ambulatory patients under supervision
- Cleans and disinfects equipment according to policies
- Participates in safety initiatives and complies with safety competencies
- Performs other duties as assigned
