Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum age of 17 years
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to safely transport and position patients using proper body mechanics
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 35 pounds unassisted
- Ability to follow infection control standards
- Availability to attend meetings and complete mandatory education
- Ability to comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Willingness to work overtime and additional shifts when required
- Ability to complete annual skills verification and maintain certifications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum age of 17 years
- Current CPR certification required
- Patient care experience in acute facility or ambulatory surgery center preferred
- Basic knowledge of abbreviations and medical terminology
- Working knowledge of equipment operation and safe use
- Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
- Strict adherence to aseptic techniques and practices
- Ability to take and record vital signs and EKGs
- Ability to follow infection prevention policies and procedures
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Transports patients safely between all patient care areas using appropriate body mechanics
- Prepares the cart/bed for patients post-op transfer
- Transports specimens to lab in a timely manner
- Assists families to designated locations
- Ensures patients are comfortable, warm, and safe
- Assists nursing staff in lifting and positioning patients
- Assists with shaves and preps including CHG Wipes as needed
- Performs terminal cleaning of outpatient surgery cubicles and carts
- Makes lab runs and picks up/returns blood products
- Cleans patient nourishment refrigerator monthly
- Documents patient nourishment refrigerator temperature daily
- Checks and changes needle boxes daily
- Obtains 12-lead EKGs
- Takes and records vital signs including temperatures, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and weights
- Obtains blood glucose samples and documents accordingly
- Discontinues IV catheters when directed
- Follows infection prevention policy at all times
- Utilizes standard work when cleaning rooms
- Assists nurse with other procedures as directed
- Assists in expediting delivery of supplies
- Picks up and returns supplies and equipment from CPD and Pharmacy
- Orders stock inventory supplies and restocks when supplies arrive
- Keeps linen areas, warmers, and supply cart supplied and orderly
- Reports damaged equipment to engineering
- Assists with clean-up/setup of cubicles in outpatient surgery
- Attends minimum of 50% of unit meetings and shares information
- Assists in orientation of new personnel
- Completes annual skills verification
- Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned
- Attends and participates in department meetings
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department-specific education
- Completes annual employee health requirements
- Maintains license/certification/registration in good standing
- Maintains current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required
- Utilizes appropriate universal precautions and ergonomic techniques
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance
- Complies with organization and department policies
- Available to work overtime and additional shifts when required
