Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Experience recognizing needs and behaviors of various patient age groups preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts
  • Ability to perform patient lifting and transfer activities
  • Use of safe body mechanics
  • Ability to operate department equipment
  • CPR certification within 90 days
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience working with various patient age groups preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate patient and unit needs
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic math skills
  • CPR certification obtained within 90 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Prepares the patient for transport while waiting for nursing assistance
  • Reports delays or canceled tests to the dispatcher and hospital personnel
  • Completes work assignments within established time guidelines
  • Works independently and utilizes appropriate resources
  • Maintains communication with dispatcher and responds to special instructions
  • Assists co-workers with lifting patients and provides safe transport
  • Follows oxygen usage guidelines as set by the hospital
