Job Requirements
- High school grad or equivalent
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
- Must be proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and follow oral instructions
- Physical ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients
- Ability to use a computer for patient information and basic department clerical functions
- Ability to work at a fast pace and multitask effectively
- Display neat, professional appearance with a smile
- Ability to navigate to/from various locations throughout the facility
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Problem solver that can think quickly in cases of emergencies or unusual situations
- Valid driver's license preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school grad or equivalent preferred
- 1+ year public contact in a medical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
- Able to communicate in English using good diction
- Proficient in operating stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, coworkers, clinicians, and other departments
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to follow patient identification/verification process prior to transporting patients
- Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to proficiently perform all care activities safely and in accordance with standards of care
Job Duties
- Maintains clear hallways by moving unused equipment to designated storage areas
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
- Ensures the proper handling and delivery of medical equipment and supplies
- Participates in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge
- Assists in the safe transfers of patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair
- Facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, and cribs
- Transports patient-related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs, and equipment efficiently
- Accurately records transport details and reports necessary information using the Transportation system
