Job Requirements

  • High school grad or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
  • Must be proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and follow oral instructions
  • Physical ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients
  • Ability to use a computer for patient information and basic department clerical functions
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and multitask effectively
  • Display neat, professional appearance with a smile
  • Ability to navigate to/from various locations throughout the facility
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Problem solver that can think quickly in cases of emergencies or unusual situations
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school grad or equivalent preferred
  • 1+ year public contact in a medical setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
  • Able to communicate in English using good diction
  • Proficient in operating stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, coworkers, clinicians, and other departments
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to follow patient identification/verification process prior to transporting patients
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to proficiently perform all care activities safely and in accordance with standards of care

Job Duties

  • Maintains clear hallways by moving unused equipment to designated storage areas
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
  • Ensures the proper handling and delivery of medical equipment and supplies
  • Participates in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Assists in the safe transfers of patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair
  • Facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, and cribs
  • Transports patient-related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs, and equipment efficiently
  • Accurately records transport details and reports necessary information using the Transportation system
