Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of relevant work experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support, or related areas
- Ability to perform clerical and registration functions accurately and efficiently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as EPIC
- Commitment to adhering to safety and compliance protocols
- Flexibility to work variable shifts including weekends as required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or related fields
- One year certificate from college or technical school (preferred based on Corewell Health entity and department)
Job Duties
- Serves as a concierge by greeting and communicating with patients or visitors
- Performs clerical functions including answering practice phone calls, scheduling patient appointments using decision trees where applicable, ordering supplies, generating patient letters, processing and sorting mail and supply deliveries, and processing registration reports
- Identifies and reminds patients of health maintenance gaps
- Documents patient phone calls in electronic health records for call routing and resolution
- Performs patient registration and check-in by confirming patient demographic and insurance information, assists patients with self-registration and arrival
- Performs patient check-out including scheduling follow-up appointments or confirming future appointments
- Maintains patient medical records according to standards and uploads documents into EPIC
- Responsible for basic electronic medical record scanning
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis
