Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year customer service experience
- Ability to work variable shifts including some weekends
- Strong typing skills with accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially
- Effective communication skills
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- No on-call required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of medical receptionist or equivalent training program preferred
- One year customer service experience required
- Experience in medical or hospital setting preferred
- Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with minimal errors
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of insurance processes and medical billing
- Proficiency with scheduling and administrative software
Job Duties
- Represent Sharp Rees-Stealy by providing patient appointments, information, and operational support services
- Provide high-level customer service consistent with organization mission and goals
- Perform patient registration, demographic and insurance updates
- Confirm insurance eligibility and obtain service authorizations
- Resolve patient billing and insurance issues
- Maintain daily and weekly schedules, reports, and departmental supplies
- Assist patients with directions, forms, and information about customer services
- Handle cash receipt and collection per policy
- Balance and secure cash drawer, prepare daily deposits
- Schedule appointments accurately according to provider guidelines
- Communicate effectively with patients and department staff
- Collaborate and work as a team to meet departmental objectives
- Support department maintenance and workflow
- Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls
- Follow emergency protocols and monitor patient waiting areas
- Use keyboarding skills to type accurately and proof work
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and billing information
