Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of related experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Availability to work varying shifts including nights and weekends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality
  • Basic understanding of healthcare insurance and billing processes

Job Duties

  • Interview patients at workstation or bedside to obtain necessary account information
  • Provide exemplary customer service
  • Ensure charts are completed and accurate
  • Verify all insurance and obtain pre-certification or authorization
  • Calculate and collect patient liability amounts
  • Secure all necessary signatures for treatments
  • Process patient charts according to paperwork flow and productivity standards
  • Interview patients, their relatives, or responsible individuals to obtain identifying and demographic information
  • Assign insurance plans accurately
  • Verify insurance benefits and initiate pre-certification or authorizations as required
  • Secure signatures for treatments, release of medical information, insurance assignments, and payments
  • Obtain copies of identification and insurance cards
  • Explain policies regarding services, pricing, insurance billing, and payments
