Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • CPR AED or BLS-HCP certification required within 30 days of hire if applicable
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to travel between Ascension Saint Elizabeth and Ascension Mercy locations as assigned
  • Previous related experience preferred
  • Availability for full-time or part-time shifts including days, evenings, and nights
  • Ability to follow department policies and confidentiality standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Current CPR AED or basic life support healthcare provider certification within 30 days of hire if required
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • One to two years of previous related experience preferred
  • Strong communication and observational skills
  • Compassionate nature and patient-focused mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Visually and audibly monitors assigned patients at all times
  • Completes observation reports at established intervals
  • Provides compassionate service and responds to patient needs
  • Remains at the bedside unless relieved by appropriate staff
  • Redirects patients verbally from at-risk behaviors
  • Seeks help promptly in case of medical distress or threats
  • Participates in identifying and reporting patient safety issues
  • Assists in calming or reorienting patients during agitation
  • Maintains safe and orderly patient rooms
  • Accompanies patients during diagnostic testing
  • Summons nursing staff immediately for assistance or unusual behavior
  • Participates in shift hand-off communication
  • Assists patients with dietary tray ordering and positioning
  • Responds rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies
  • Adheres to department policies and confidentiality requirements
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
