Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous food service experience preferred
  • Ability to follow food safety, infection control, and sanitation guidelines
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and safety practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Capability to manage food inventory and orders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment

  • Physical ability to handle food carts and perform related tasks safely

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assists patients in completing menus
  • Visits assigned patients for menu selection and offers accepted alternate food selections
  • Reviews patients' files and records diet changes to assure efficient timing of service
  • Completes patient menu selection within designated time frame
  • Compiles menu information for use by kitchen personnel
  • Notifies Clinical Nutritionist of patient concerns
  • Monitors and delivers nourishments to assigned nursing units
  • Prepares nourishment orders and restocks as needed
  • Assures stock levels of nourishments are maintained
  • Ensures nourishments are labeled with expiration dates
  • Monitors and records temperature on nourishment refrigerators
  • Sets up tray line according to procedures and ensures proper food temperatures
  • Places appropriate food on trays according to menu and diet requirements
  • Serves food following established portion control procedures
  • Checks completed trays for appearance and arrangement
  • Delivers food carts to patient floors timely
  • Serves trays according to etiquette and company policy
  • Picks up trays from rooms after meals
  • Records percentage of food eaten by patients
  • Returns food carts to kitchen as scheduled
  • Maintains work area according to infection control and safety policies
  • Maintains safe and sanitary work area
  • Utilizes kitchen equipment safely
  • Follows proper procedures for isolation patients
  • Observes sanitation procedures before handling food
  • Performs other duties as assigned
