Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience in a related field
- Knowledge of medical transfer laws and hospital policies
- Familiarity with payer systems including HMO, POS, PPO, commercial and governmental payers
- Ability to handle patient registration and data accurately
- Strong interpersonal and coordination skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- One year of relevant experience
- Knowledge of transfer laws and hospital policies
- Familiarity with HMO, POS, PPO, commercial and governmental payers
- Understanding of hospital contract agreements with third party payers
- Ability to coordinate with multiple hospital departments
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Job Duties
- Facilitates internal transfers and incoming/outgoing transfers
- Ensures transfer laws and hospital policies are followed properly for patients requiring emergent medical care and/or bed placement
- Collects demographic and financial information on incoming transfers and completes registration
- Adheres to federal/state statutes governing medical emergency transfers and enforces time requirements mandated by the state
- Ensures non-emergent patients meet the hospital's admitting criteria
- Confirms patients are admitted to the appropriate level of care and coordinates pre-screening with Patient Flow Coordinator
- Coordinates transfers with other departments to schedule patient's outpatient tests/procedures
- Coordinates with Memorial-Hermann Air Traffic Control for helicopter landings and medical staff presence
- Verifies hospital census and ensures patients are charged correctly
- Ensures quality of patient admissions by obtaining accurate demographic and clinical information timely
