Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one or more years of related experience
- ability to prepare and cook foods as directed
- knowledge of sanitation and safety standards
- effective communication skills
- ability to work part-time shifts - 1:30pm to 6:30pm or 1:30pm to 5:30pm
- willingness to adhere to organizational policies and procedures

- knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- ability to follow dietary instructions and communicate effectively
- experience operating kitchen equipment

Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation times
- reads food orders or receives verbal instructions
- maintains patient diet orders and communicates with nursing staff on issues
- contacts dietician on call when problems arise with patient diet orders
- prepares and cooks food according to instructions
- performs fast food cooking duties for food service
- follows product directions for preparing and serving meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuff
- operates kitchen equipment, measures and mixes ingredients, washes, peels, cuts and shreds vegetables
- tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment
- cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment following regulatory procedures
- promotes effective teamwork
- displays professional behavior and positive attitude
- adheres to organizational policies and procedures
- manages hospital resources effectively
- performs clinical and technical competencies required by the unit or department
