Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one or more years of related experience
  • ability to prepare and cook foods as directed
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety standards
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work part-time shifts - 1:30pm to 6:30pm or 1:30pm to 5:30pm
  • willingness to adhere to organizational policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • one or more years of experience in related field
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to follow dietary instructions and communicate effectively
  • experience operating kitchen equipment
  • teamwork and communication skills
  • positive attitude and professional comportment

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation times
  • reads food orders or receives verbal instructions
  • maintains patient diet orders and communicates with nursing staff on issues
  • contacts dietician on call when problems arise with patient diet orders
  • prepares and cooks food according to instructions
  • performs fast food cooking duties for food service
  • follows product directions for preparing and serving meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuff
  • operates kitchen equipment, measures and mixes ingredients, washes, peels, cuts and shreds vegetables
  • tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment
  • cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment following regulatory procedures
  • promotes effective teamwork
  • displays professional behavior and positive attitude
  • adheres to organizational policies and procedures
  • manages hospital resources effectively
  • performs clinical and technical competencies required by the unit or department
