Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one or more years of experience in food preparation or related field
- ability to work part-time shifts as specified
- basic kitchen skills and knowledge of food safety practices
- ability to communicate effectively with nursing staff and team members
- physical ability to perform repetitive tasks such as standing, cutting and lifting
- willingness to adhere to organizational policies and procedures

Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation times
- reads food order or receives verbal instructions
- maintains patient diet orders and communicates with nursing staff if issues arise
- contacts dietician on call when problems arise with patient diet orders
- prepares and cooks food according to instructions
- performs fast food cooking duties
- follows basic product directions for preparing, cooking and serving food
- prepares foods by operating kitchen equipment, measures and mixes ingredients, washes, peels, cuts and shreds vegetables
- tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records
- cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment according to regulatory rules
- promotes effective teamwork
- displays professional behavior and positive attitude
- adheres to organizational policies and procedures
- effectively manages hospital resources such as time, supplies and equipment
- performs professional, clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- performs other duties as assigned as required
