Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • minimum two years of patient scheduling or registration experience in healthcare setting
  • ability to perform daily activities with minimal supervision
  • capable of self-directed work to accomplish routine duties
  • strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • able to lift 50 to 100 pounds
  • able to stand, sit, bend, walk, climb, and reach extensively
  • able to handle a fast-paced environment and multiple priorities
  • able to adapt to frequent change and noisy workplace

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • minimum two years of patient scheduling or registration experience in healthcare
  • strong customer service skills and patient-centered approach
  • familiarity with medical insurance, HMO, managed care preferred
  • experience with GE/IDX and Cerner order entry systems preferred
  • knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, healthcare administration, or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments for multiple locations and services
  • review medical records and appointment documents for completeness and accuracy
  • communicate with nursing staff to verify appointment appropriateness and obtain preauthorization
  • monitor and process patient cancellations promptly
  • utilize wait lists to improve clinic accessibility for patients
  • provide courteous and respectful customer service to patients, families, visitors, and medical staff
  • perform all aspects of patient access representative duties as needed
