Job Requirements

  • Current nursing assistant certification (CNA) in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • For Utah candidates, must meet one of the following: certified nursing assistant certification in Utah, or completion of recent certified nursing assistant training program within the past year, or completion of fundamentals of nursing course with passing grade within past two years
  • CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire if not currently certified
  • Physical ability to perform duties including lifting and transferring patients, manual dexterity, and communication abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience as a Secretary in a hospital preferred
  • Experience using electronic medical records preferred
  • Experience with word processing software preferred
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Patient care experience at a Children’s Hospital preferred
  • Current enrollment in nursing school preferred

Job Duties

  • Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs
  • Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients
  • Provides excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests
  • Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner
  • Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed
  • Performs telemetry duties based on unit
  • Functions as patient care attendant monitoring and addressing patient needs
  • Takes medications from delivery system to RN
  • Collaborates and consults with RN and interdisciplinary team for best patient care
  • Demonstrates effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization
  • Performs non-nursing duties such as cleaning, stocking, answering phones, clerical support, and providing directions
  • Implements plan of care as delegated
  • Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice
  • Answers patient call lights
  • Schedules tests and treatments
  • Provides visitor access control
  • Answers unit telephones and disseminates information
  • Maintains patient and unit records
  • Transcribes physician orders
  • Acts as unit receptionist
  • Organizes and maintains supplies
